Jessica Hoffman completed and defended her dissertation on Dutch artist Adriaen van Ostade’s festive peasants in the Fall of 2013. After receiving her B.A. from the University of Texas, she moved to Maryland to pursue her graduate studies. She was awarded an M.A. in Art History from the University of Maryland in 2001 after which she served as a Curatorial Assistant in the Department of Painting and Sculpture at the Smithsonian Institution National Portrait Gallery for several years.
