Dr. Kimberlee Staking has degrees in English, Art History, and Women’s Studies. Grants from the Center for Teaching Excellence at the University of Maryland allowed her to organize and distribute curricular materials for teaching diversity, and permitted her to assist in the creation of a resource website designed to support faculty in the College of Arts and Humanities in their efforts to teach visual literacy skills to undergraduate students. Ford Foundation funding enabled her collaboration with colleagues in Africa, Israel, and Jamaica in the construction of web-based pedagogies for a transnational online course exploring women’s health. Dr. Staking’s recently completed dissertation (2013) investigates student learning engagement via the deployment of new media technologies in the women’s studies classroom.
