Marina Galvani (born in 1967 in Vicenza, Italy) holds graduate degrees in business management, international economics, and art history from the universities of Milan (Italy), Vienna (Austria), and College Park, MD (USA). As an art historian and cultural manager she has worked for the Kunsthistorisches Museum (Vienna), Museo del Prado (Madrid), Gallerie dell'Accademia (Venice), and the National Gallery of Art (Washington). In parallel to her curatorial work, Ms. Galvani has worked for the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and UNESCO on the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage in Guatemala, India, Iran, Italy, and Tunisia. Before joining the Word Bank in 2005 as its third art curator, Galvani has worked in the curatorial offices of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna and at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Visual Arts (CASVA) at the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC.
