Abby is a Ph.D. student studying the Italian Renaissance. Her research tends to issues of reception, gift culture, and the intersection of art and politics. Abby received her B.A. (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of Georgia, and her M.A. (with distinction) from the Florida State University. While at Florida State, Abby published a portion of her master’s thesis, entitled “The Political Context of Michelangelo’s Cleopatra for Tommaso de’Cavalieri,” in the July 2013 publication of Athanor. With the aid of travel grants, she has presented her research at conferences throughout the United States. Abby has also held positions in the education department the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, as well as the development department at a not-for-profit higher education institution.
