Madeline Gent, hired just late last year as executive director of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, is garnering praise for her transformative work leading the venerable Pittsburgh institution, according to the Pittsburgh Gazette "steering the organization out of the malaise it's suffered in recent years." One step, described as "major," is reviving the AAP's annual exhibition, the 106th edition of which opens this weekend (see review here) and which was juried and curated by Taras Matla, acting associate director of the University of Maryland Art Gallery, and with whom Madeline worked for two years as graduate assistant. Madeline appears to have brought renewed energy to the AAP, which will surprise noone familiar with Madeline and her many projects and efforts at the Art Gallery or the Collaboratory, where she served as graduate assistant for several semesters.

Congratulations Madeline!
