Alison studies twentieth-century African Diaspora art and literature with Dr. Renee Ater. She completed her Master's degree at the University of Texas at Austin, writing on contemporary South African photography. She is particularly interested in Black Nationalism in the 20th century as well as the interplay between material and pop culture and its relationship to the development of national identity. She is hoping to pursue a career in teaching upon completion of the PhD.
