Caroline Paganussi is a PhD candidate and Jenny Rhee Fellow studying Italian Renaissance Art with Professor Meredith Gill. Broadly, her research focuses on the exploration and expression of humanistic discourse in painting and printmaking in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Her dissertation, entitled "Bologna la dotta: The University and the Visual Arts in the Age of the Bentivoglio, 1463-1512," examines the relationship between the artistic, university, and courtly communities in Bologna at the close of the fifteenth century.
Caroline has presented her scholarship at various conferences in the United States and Italy.She earned an MA (with Merit) in Museum Studies from University College London in 2012, and a BA in the History of Art and College Scholar Program from Cornell University in 2011. Prior to joining the department, she served as the Executive Assistant to the Director and the Board of Trustees at The Phillips Collection in Washington, DC. She has held internships at The Mall Galleries in London, the Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence, the Museo Civico Medievale di Bologna, the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art in Ithaca, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC.Caroline is a member of the Council for the Future of the Friends of Florence.
