Haojian Cheng is an MA/PhD student studying Chinese art with Professor Jason C. Kuo. He is interested in Chinese Ming and Qing art, and in particular, porcelain and the Western influences on Chinese imperial art. His research also includes digital art history with the tools of computer vision, 3D modeling, and natural language processing.

Haojian holds a B.S with Honors in Art History and Data Science from the University of Michigan, where his written thesis examined the role of Falangcai (Famille rose, 琺瑯彩瓷) porcelain during the Qing Dynasty. Prior to coming to Maryland, he worked as a curatorial assistant at a porcelain museum in Hangzhou, China. He also worked on several digital art history related projects on porcelain identification and museum search algorithms in collaboration with University of Michigan Museum of Art.
