Sofia Podgorski

Sofia Podgorski is a MA-PhD student studying Roman art and archaeology with Dr. Maryl B. Gensheimer. Sofia graduated cum laude from Boston University in 2024 receiving her B.A. in Classical Civilizations. Sofia received M.A. in Ancient Greek and Latin from the University of Vermont in 2026 where she taught first year Latin language courses.

She has curated two online and in-person exhibitions entitled Chapman on Homer and Translating and Transforming Homer with the Edward Worth Library at Trinity College Dublin. Her recent works: “Reverse Ekphrasis: The Poetry of the Greek Lyric Poets and the Art of Cy Twombly”  and “Tacitus’s Britain: The Depiction of England, Scotland, and Wales in the ‘Annals’ and ‘Agricola’  have been published with the London based Historians Magazine. Sofia's research interests are in Greek and Roman art and archaeology, classical reception in art, and the intersections of art and archaeology with written material within Roman Britain.
