AIA Webinar: Prof. Rebecca Benefiel to Deliver the 2022 Howland Lecture

The Department of Classics and the Department of Art History and Archaeology are pleased to co-sponsor the 2022 Howland Lecture of the Washington DC Society of the Archaeological Institute of America.   Professor Rebecca Benefiel of Washington and Lee University will deliver a lecture entitled "Ancient Graffiti and Ancient Voices: Culture and Communication Across Pompeii and Herculaneum." Prof. Benefiel will speak on what we can learn from the graffiti found at Pompeii and Herculaneum, both towns famously buried by the explosion of Vesuvius in 79 CE.  

The lecture is scheduled for 7PM on Thursday, April 28, and should last about an hour, allowing for a short Q&A afterward.

The Webinar is FREE and open to the public, but registration is required. See the RSVP window on the right.
