The Inaugural Marjorie S. Venit Memorial Lecture: H. Alan Shapiro, "Communicating with the Divine in Classical Athenian Art"

Art History and Archaeology Friday, April 20, 2018 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm 2203

The Department is honored to announce the establishment of the biennial Marjorie S. Venit Memorial Lecture in Ancient Mediterranean Art History and/or Archaeology. The lecture is made possible by a generous provision by Dr. Venit, who passed away in 2017, and her family.  The inaugural lecture, entitled "Communicating with the Divine in Classical Athenian Art," will be delivered on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 5 pm by Dr. H. Alan Shapiro, W. H. Collins Vickers Professor of Archaeology Emeritus in the Department of Classics at Johns Hopkins University. The lecture will take place in the lecture hall (Room 2203) of the Parren J. Mitchell Art-Sociology Building, and will be preceded at 3:30pm by tea in the atrium.
