Middle Atlantic Symposium: Dr. Nicholas Penny to deliver George Levitine Lecture and Keynote Address
The Middle Atlantic Symposium in the History of Art is hosted by the University of Maryland's Department of Art History and Archaeology and by the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts, National Gallery of Art. Eight graduate art-history programs participate in the symposium, which provides an opportunity for advanced graduate students to present their research. The 2013 sessions will be held on Friday, March 7, and Saturday, March 8, at both the National Gallery of Art and the University of Maryland.
As part of the symposium, Dr. Nicholas Penny, Director of the National Gallery, London, will present the George Levitine Lecture on Friday, March 7, 6-7:30 pm in room 2203 of the Art/Sociology Building. The title of his talk is "Imperial Anxiety in Painting and Poetry" A Tea will be held beforehand in The Atrium, 5-6 pm.
