Middle Atlantic Symposium: Graduate Student Papers

The Department of Art History and Archaeology at the University of Maryland and the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts at the National Gallery of Art have jointly sponsored the Middle Atlantic Symposium in the History of Art since 1971.  The Symposium offers an opportunity not only for advanced graduate students to present their research to the public, but also to bring together the academic and museum communities in the greater Washington area.

Participating institutions are American University, Bryn Mawr College, Duke University, Emory University, George Washington University, Johns Hopkins University, the Pennsylvania State University, Temple University, the University of Delaware, the University of North Carolina, the University of Virginia, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Pittsburgh, and Virginia Commonwealth University, seven of which join the University of Maryland to form each year's cohort.

This year's cohort of papers includes speakers from American University, Bryn Mawr College, George Washington University, Johns Hopkins University, Temple University, the Universty of North Carolina, the University of Maryland, and the University of Virginia.
