Pressly Forum: Distinguished Department Alumni at the Baltimore Museum of Art - A Panel Discussion

Art History and Archaeology | College of Arts and Humanities Wednesday, April 3, 2024 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Parren J. Mitchell Art/Sociology Building, 4213A Michelle Smith Collaboratory for Visual Culture

A Pressly Forum not to be missed!

Four members of the directorial and curatorial staff of the Baltimore Museum of Art, each a graduate of the Department of Art History and Archaeology, visit the Collaboratory on Wednesday, April 3rd at noon, constituting a panel discussion in which they will share with members of the Department and the broader University community their experiences and vision(s) for transforming culture and practice at the Baltimore Museum of Art (and perhaps beyond).

Asma Naeem

Asma Naeem, named the Dorothy Wallis Wagner director of the Baltimore Museum of Art in early February while serving as Chief Curator, graduated with a PhD from the Department in the first decade of this century.

Kevin Tervala

Kevin Tervala, interim Chief Curator, graduated with a BA and departmental honors from the department. An expert in art of the African continent, Kevin rose to Department Head of Arts of Africa, the Americas, Asia, and the Pacific Islands (AAAPI) at BMA before assuming his current role.

Cecilia Wichmann

Cecilia Wichmann, who completed her MA in the Department, and is currently is a PhD candidate, is the Associate Curator of Contemporary Art at the BMA.

Lara Yeager-Crasselt

Lara Yeager-Crasselt joined the BMA last September as Curator and Department Head of European Painting and Sculpture. She studied Dutch and Flemish seventeenth-century art in the Department, from which she received her PhD a decade ago.

Needless to say, as a Department we are quite proud to see so many of our graduates flourishing, and at the highest levels, at the Baltimore Museum of Art and we are profoundly delighted that they are able to join us for what promises to be a rich and rewarding Pressly Forum.

The Pressly Forum offers members of Department faculty and selected speakers to give a talk to members of the Department (faculty, staff, students) in an effort to create bonds of intellectual and collegial community. The forum is the brainchild of Professor Emeritus William L. Pressly, after whom the forum now is named. A light lunch will be served at 11:30.
