Pressly Forum: “Reclaiming Our Space: The Story of Lakeland”: A Community's Story Becomes an Exhibition, With a Little Help From Friends
Please join us Wednesday, May 6th, as Quint Gregory joins a panel to discuss the soon-to-open exhibition at College Park Aviation Museum "Reclaiming Our Space: The Story of Lakeland" and its creation and development as a collaboratively-curated exhibition.
Panelists include Ms. Maxine Gross, Chair of the Lakeland Community Heritage Project, Carol Allred, Exhibits Specialist at CPAM, Scherly Virgill, PhD Student in American Studies and Education Specialist at CPAM, and Mr. Robert Thurston, President of Lakeland Community Association. The conversation, which will flow freely per Quint's moderation, will focus on Lakeland's history, present, and future, through the lens the exhibition at CPAM and its development, which has involved many hands, in Lakeland Community, at UMD, and at CPAM. It should be a joyous celebration!
The Pressly Forum offers members of Department faculty and selected speakers to give a talk to members of the Department (faculty, staff, students) in an effort to create bonds of intellectual and collegial community. The forum is the brainchild of Professor Emeritus William L. Pressly, after whom the forum now is named. A light lunch will be served at 11:30.
