The Columbus Museum has been awarded a $100,000 grant from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts for the upcoming exhibition, "Alma W. Thomas: Everything is Beautiful," which will open the summer of 2021 at the Chrysler Museum (which is co-organizing), and travel to other venues, including The Phillips Collection, before closing at The Columbus Museum in Georgia. Dr. Jonathan Frederick Walz, who received his PhD from the Department in 2010, and is the Director of Curatorial Affairs and Curator of American Art at the Columbus Museum, is co-curating the exhibition about Alma Thomas, who was from rural Georgia and practiced art there before establishing herself as one of the important members of The Color School in Washington, DC.
