Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

Art History and Archaeology Wednesday, April 6, 2022 10:00 am - 1:00 pm Parren J. Mitchell Art/Sociology Building, 4213A

This event will focus on creating or improving Wikipedia entries related to notable women artists and art world figures. The University of Maryland's wikipedia edit-a-thons historically focus on women artists with works in the permanent collections of the University of Maryland Art Gallery, Stamp Art Gallery, and Driskell Center, but this year we will expand our focus to consider women from the West Coast Bay area whose work and impact long have been overlooked. See how you can help close the gender gap in Wikipedia’s coverage of the arts. The event is open to the public and all gender identities and expressions are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Check out our Wikipedia Meetup page to see what UMD artists you can work on and what resources may already exist to make your wiki-writing experience easier, as well as details about the event. If you can't make it in person, join us via zoom!

Come whenever you can, and forever how long you can. Bring a laptop and come help make Wikipedia better and more equitable! Snacks will be provided!
