Hannah will conduct research on paintings and linen textiles in the Boston MFA collection that relate to her dissertation

UMD Ph.D. candidate Hannah Prescott has been awarded a 12-month pre-doctoral fellowship at the Center for Netherlandish Art at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, beginning in September 2025. She will work under the advisement of the CNA Director Christopher Atkins and Associate Curator of Decorative Arts and Sculpture Courtney Harris to conduct research on paintings and linen textiles in the MFA collection that relate to her dissertation, "Interweaving the Local and the Global: Linen in the Dutch Republic during the Long Seventeenth Century." The CNA is a research center for the study of Dutch and Flemish art, and aims to nurture future generations of scholars and curators through multidisciplinary research and object-based learning. The first of its kind in the United States, the Center was founded by Rose-Marie and Eijk van Otterloo, and Susan and Matthew Weatherbie through their generous gift of 113 art works, a major research library, and funding for pre- and post-doctoral researchers. Hannah looks forward to spending the year writing and forging new professional connections with museum professionals.

Congratulations Hannah!
