Olga Albizu's training and work come to life in Dr. McEwen's essay
The Art Students League in New York City, founded in 1875, is celebrated by scholars, alumni, and supporters this year through the publication 150 Stories: Lives of the Artists at the League, and Dr. Abigail McEwen has contributed an essay on the training and early career of Puerto Rican artist Olga Albizu, who "revered her teachers, and their legacy," contributing to Albizu's "abiding belief in 'art for art's sake...in eternal art and eternal values.'"
The Art Students League styles itself the "Birthplace of American Art," and Dr. McEwen has wonderfully evoked the work, views, and life of one of its luminaries. Congratulations Dr. McEwen!
